Tracking maintenance and inspections

How ClubHangar tracks annual, 100-hour, ELT, transponder, pitot-static, oil-change and AD compliance, and how squawks ground an aircraft.

Reporting a squawk

Anyone in the club can report a squawk, from Maintenance (Log squawk) or from the aircraft's page (Squawk). Give it a title, a description and a severity: low, medium, high or grounding.

A grounding squawk marks the aircraft grounded everywhere in ClubHangar, and its QR check-out page won't dispatch it. Move the squawk to in progress while it's being worked on, and to resolved when it's fixed.

Adding inspections and recurring items

  1. Open the aircraft from Fleet and go to Inspections & maintenance.
  2. Choose Add item and pick a type. The interval is filled in from the template.
  3. Enter when it was last done: the date and, for hour-based items, the tach time.

Built-in templates:

  • Annual inspection: 12 calendar months
  • 100-hour inspection: 100 hours (for aircraft operated for hire)
  • Oil change: 50 hours or 4 months, whichever comes first
  • Transponder check (91.413): 24 calendar months
  • Pitot-static / altimeter (91.411): 24 calendar months
  • ELT inspection (91.207): 12 calendar months
  • Airworthiness Directive: set the interval, or a single due date for a one-time AD
  • Other: anything else you want to track

How due dates are worked out

  • Calendar items are due on the last day of the month, the interval after the month they were last done. An annual done on March 3 is due by the end of the following March.
  • Hour items are due at the tach time of last compliance plus the interval.
  • Items tracked by both are due at whichever comes first.
  • Due soon means within 10 hours or 30 days. Overdue items are flagged in red.

Whichever of the annual and 100-hour inspections comes due first is shown as each aircraft's next inspection on the Fleet page.

Signing off an item

Choose Complete on the item and enter the date complied and the tach time. The next due point is calculated from the new baseline. Only admins can add, edit or complete maintenance items.
