Booking a reservation
- Open Schedule and choose New reservation.
- Pick the aircraft, start and end time, and purpose: personal use, training, checkride, backup or maintenance.
- Optionally add an instructor.
- Choose Book reservation.
Admins and instructors can book for another pilot. Members book for themselves. A pilot can edit their own reservations, and admins can edit any reservation.
Why a booking is refused
ClubHangar explains the reason when it won't accept a booking. The possible reasons are:
- Another reservation overlaps it and takes precedence. Maintenance outranks everything, and a checkride outranks personal and training flights.
- The aircraft requires a checkout and the pilot hasn't been checked out in it.
- The pilot owes more than the club's unpaid-balance limit.
- The pilot's medical certificate has expired, or their flight review is due, and the club restricts that.
Backup reservations never conflict. Use one to stand by for an aircraft that's already booked.
Checking out and checking in
- At departure, check the reservation out. The Hobbs and tach readings are pre-filled from the aircraft, and you can correct them if they're off.
- After the flight, check it in with the new readings.
- The aircraft's times update, and if billing is on, the flight posts to the pilot's account at the aircraft's hourly rate.
Walk-up flights from the QR code
Scanning an aircraft's QR placard opens its check-out page. A pilot with a booking can check it out there. Without one, they can choose Check out now, which books the aircraft from now until they expect to be back and checks it out in one step. The same booking rules apply, and a grounded aircraft can't be checked out.
Aircraft checkouts
When an aircraft is set to require a checkout, an instructor or admin signs pilots off on it from the aircraft's page or from Members. Only signed-off pilots can book it.
